Implant malposition and revision surgery in primary orbital fracture reconstructions

نویسندگان

چکیده

The aim of the study was to assess factors leading revision surgery and implant position primary orbital fracture reconstructions. A retrospective cohort included patients who underwent floor and/or medial wall reconstruction for recent trauma. Demographics, type, implant-related variables, postoperative were analyzed. overall rate 6.5% (15 232 surgeries). highest in combined midfacial fractures with rim involvement (14.0%), lower zygomatico-orbital (8.7%), lowest isolated blowout (3.8%). Fracture fixation malposition predicted revision. best positioning achieved patient-specific milled titanium implants (mtPSI) resorbable materials, whereas poorest preformed three-dimensional plates. Combined particular have a high risk surgery. Within limitations present study, mtPSIs should be preferred if possible.

Orbital reconstruction: prefabricated implants, data transfer, and revision surgery.

External impact to the orbit may cause a blowout or zygomatico-maxillary fractures. Diagnosis and treatment of orbital wall fractures are based on both physical examination and computed tomography scan of the orbit. Injuries of the orbit often require a reconstruction of its orbital walls. Using computer-assisted techniques, anatomically preformed orbital implants, and intraoperative imaging of...

Reasons for revision surgery after orbital decompression for Graves’ orbitopathy

OBJECTIVES An analysis of complications and causes of failure in orbital decompression necessitating a second operation. METHODS Between December 1992 and April 2007, 375 patients (719 orbits) were operated on using various techniques. Fourteen patients were initially operated on in our unit: 8 (group A1) were re-operated on after a short time due to complications connected with the decompres...
